This unique project involved works to strengthen and improve a flood retaining embankment at a large reservoir lake in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Our client had been prevented from implementing earlier planning permissions for works to the flood retaining embankment but matters came to a head when the Environment Agency served an Enforcement Notice requiring the works to be carried out by a specified deadline.
We prepared an updated planning application for the works required to strengthen and improve the flood retaining embankment; and co-ordinated the preparation of an Ecological Survey to support the proposal, also liaising with the client’s consulting engineers, the Environment Agency and Planning Officers at the Borough Council.
